1 dead after car accident near Las Vegas

Police are on the lookout for a potential second vehicle that may have been responsible for a crash on June 15. The car accident took place on a Nevada highway north of Las Vegas and left one 20-year-old man dead. Police are continuing to investigate in the hope of corroborating their theories.

Nevada Highway Patrol report the crash occurred late at night on I-15 a . The 20-year-old driver, a resident of North Las Vegas, lost control of his subcompact car when he overcorrected a lane change. The vehicle hit the western barrier of the highway, killing the driver on impact. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Police suspect another vehicle may have been the cause of the accident. They allege that vehicle was also traveling southbound and may have contributed to the driver's abrupt lane change and overcorrection. They have asked anyone with information pertaining to the specifics of the case to please come forward in the interest of solving what may turn out to be a more complicated case than a single-car accident would initially suggest.

Until police locate the driver of the second vehicle, there may be no forward mobility in this case. However, when police find this second driver and determine if he or she was in part responsible for the car accident that claimed the life of the 20-year-old Nevada man, the case may change dramatically. The surviving family of the victim may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death case against that driver in a civil court setting.
