2 injured as a result of alleged drunk driver in Las Vegas

People are at risk everywhere in Las Vegas when a drunk driver is on the roadway. Drinking naturally impairs judgement, and it can often cause a serious accident. For those who are injured by a drunk driver, there may be more options than one believes, and they may occur in a Nevada courtroom.

A man in his 20s and a teenage woman suffered serious injuries in a car versus motor scooter crash recently. A car driver, said to be 31, was apparently headed southbound close to the Strip when he, for unknown reasons, rear-ended the scooter on which the two victims were seated. The woman's condition was reported to be critical, while the scooter driver's injuries were characterized as serious.

The car driver was arrested and imprisoned. The Las Vegas police claim that the man was drunk at the time of the accident. The alleged drunk driver is accused of a felony DUI. The collision remains under investigation. If the driver is convicted in criminal court, he may face severe penalties.

A drunk driver on any Las Vegas roadway is a danger to anyone near them. Apart from the pending criminal charges, the two accident victims have legal rights. They can each opt to initiate personal injury claims against the driver. Should the criminal charges result in a formal conviction, proof of that may advance the victims' cases in civil court. If they are able to establish that their injuries were caused by the negligence of the car driver, a Nevada court will consider claims for specific items of damages sustained.
