Nevada auto accident involving 2 cars leaves 6 injured

Following a two-car crash in Vernon County, six people were sent to the Nevada Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. A preliminary investigation into the auto accident revealed that one vehicle crossed the center line of the roadway and entered the opposing lane of traffic. The Nevada crash is still being investigated, and no criminal charges have yet been filed.

At about 10:20 p.m., one vehicle was westbound on a highway near Montevallo. For a reason that investigators have yet to determine, the 77-year-old driver left her lane and headed into the lane of the oncoming traffic. The vehicle slammed head first into a second vehicle that was traveling east.

The impact was so great that six people had to be treated at a local hospital. The driver of the first vehicle and one of her passengers were taken by ambulance to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The 26-year-old driver of the second vehicle along with three of his passengers -- ages 5, 13 and 14 -- were also treated for minor injuries. While all injured persons are expected to recover, extensive damage was reportedly done to both vehicles.

The injuries that the occupants of the second vehicle suffered in the Nevada auto accident were initially characterized as minor. However, it can often be hard to assess just how much damage was truly done after a crash, especially since three of the injured persons were children. Moreover, minor injuries can sometimes escalate and cause larger problems in the days and weeks following a collision. In those circumstances, it may be appropriate to seek financial relief from the party or parties deemed to have caused or contributed to the injuries by an act of negligence.
