Man dies in possible DUI auto accident in Nevada

Alcohol can be a dangerous drug, especially when behind the wheel of a car. Motorists who drive while under the influence of alcohol are more likely to end up causing an auto accident which results in injury or even death. Unfortunately, this may have been what happened in a recent fatal crash on a highway in Nevada.

The crash occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on U.S. 95 in early August. Two vehicles were heading southbound on the freeway. The resulting collision caused the death of a 25-year-old male driver. The other driver, a 22-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries that were not described further. The woman is now under investigation for possibly driving under the influence.

Apparently, the male driver had been speeding while driving his Volkswagen. He ended up rear-ending the woman who was driving her Honda Civic. The Volkswagen flipped over several times. The man was propelled from the vehicle as it was flipping, which resulted in fatal injuries.

If the woman does end up being charged with driving under the influence during the auto accident, the family of the decedent will surely follow the progress of the Nevada criminal proceedings. Evidence and testimony presented during the criminal trial may be usable in a wrongful death lawsuit against the woman, even if the woman is not convicted at the end of the criminal proceedings. Nevertheless, the family will have to prove that the driver negligently caused or contributed to the fatal accident in order for financial liability to attach.
