2 dead, 4 injured in fiery drunk driving accident

Auto accidents occur for a multitude of reasons. In Nevada and elsewhere, those in or near the roadway are at risk of a drunk driving accident at any time of day. Early one recent Saturday morning, the occupants of a minibus became the unsuspecting victims of an apparent drunk driving accident. Two died and four were hurt as a result of the collision.

At around 7 a.m., an accident occurred at a Las Vegas intersection. A 24-year old man drove his BMW through a red light, and his car hit a minibus. Police report that the minibus overturned, and the BMW spun into another vehicle at the intersection. The minibus and the car that hit it caught fire, completely destroying the minibus.

Sadly, two of the people in the minibus were pronounced dead at the scene while three other occupants were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries. The BMW driver suffered moderate injuries. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police state that the man was charged with two counts of DUI resulting in death and three counts of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm.

Victims who have been injured in a drunk driving accident typically have the right to sue the driver deemed responsible for the accident. Families of victims who have been killed in a drunk driving accident have a similar right to pursue a wrongful death claim in a civil court. A successful claim may result in compensation that can be used for medical costs, funeral expenses where applicable and a host of other damages recognized by applicable laws.
