Auto accident claims 99th life in 2015 traffic-related incidents

Driving on Nevada roads can be hazardous, and fatalities in the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metro Police so far this year has reportedly reached almost 100. In fact, the death of a mail truck driver on a recent Saturday was the 99th traffic-related death in 2015. This auto accident is believed to have been caused by a negligent driver.

In a preliminary accident report, Metro Police alleged that the 61-year-old driver of a westbound vehicle disregarded a stop sign on East Owens Avenue. This car smashed into a mail truck, causing the truck to flip. The impact of the collision also caused the truck driver to be ejected from the vehicle.

The ejected driver, 62, reportedly died at the accident scene. The driver who is believed to have been responsible for the crash and her 79-year-old passenger were transported to a medical facility for treatment of moderate injuries. No details were available about the deceased driver pending notification of his or her next of kin. Reportedly, an accident investigation is ongoing.

When a negligent driver's actions result in an auto accident that causes serious injuries or death to others, that driver may be held accountable. The surviving family members of individuals who died as the result of negligence may pursue recovery of financial and other losses such as loss of companionship, lost income, funeral and burial expenses and more. A wrongful death claim may be filed in a Nevada civil court, and documented claims will be considered after negligence had been established. Injured victims of car accidents may take similar action by filing personal injury claims in pursuing recovery of damages.
