Teenager killed, 2 others injured in auto accident on U.S. 95

The Southern Command of the Nevada Highway Patrol reported the 57th fatal car accident in its area this year, bringing the total number of deaths to 63. This auto accident reportedly involved a car and a semi truck. Unfortunately, when big rigs are involved in a crash, the occupants of passenger vehicles have little chance of survival or escaping severe injuries.

An accident report indicates that the incident occurred on U.S. 95 on a recent Friday evening. The Nevada Highway Patrol said that a car that was driven by a 55-year-old female was reportedly rear-ended by a semi truck. The impact apparently caused the car to spin out of control before coming to a halt in the center median. A 15-year-old passenger in the car lost his life in this accident.

The driver suffered serious injuries, and she was rushed to a medical facility. A 69-year-old front seat passenger in the car also suffered critical injuries. He was airlifted to University Medical Center. The driver of the semi, a 65-year-old man from another state, suffered no injuries. There was no mention of any charges filed or pending related to this wreck.

When a loved one is lost in an auto accident that resulted from the negligence of another party, his or her surviving family members may pursue financial relief by filing a wrongful death claim against the alleged negligent party. Similarly, injured victims may pursue personal injury claims. For claims to be successful, the court will require sufficient evidence of negligence, and in a case such as this one, the driver and the owner of the big rig may be named as defendants. Once liability is properly established, documented claims for financial and emotional losses will be considered.
