Henderson man killed in motorcycle vs. motor vehicle crash

A 52-year-old Nevada motorcyclist was identified as the man who lost his life late last month. The coroner of Clark County said the man's death was caused by multiple injuries he suffered in a motor vehicle crash. Henderson Police said the man's motorcycle was struck by a car on West Warm Springs Road.

An accident report indicates that the motorcyclist was westbound when a speeding car approached from behind. The car allegedly smashed into the rear of the bike, causing the rider to be ejected from the motorcycle as it was propelled into the guard rail. The biker suffered fatal injuries, and his death was pronounced at the accident scene.

Police said the car continued along the road for a short distance before the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. He was reportedly apprehended soon. Police reports indicate that the crash that claimed this man's life was the 10th in Henderson in 2016.

Whenever a loved one is killed in a motor vehicle crash, the person responsible for the accident may be held accountable. The surviving family members of the deceased motorcyclist may pursue financial relief by filing a wrongful death lawsuit in a Nevada civil court. Such a claim may be successful if the plaintiffs can establish negligence by another party. Only when the court has determined financial liability can it adjudicate documented claims for economic losses such as funeral and burial costs and lost income along with emotional damages sustained. This process may be followed by the entry of a monetary judgment by the judge.
