Drunk driving accident claims the life of woman in Reno

Despite increased public awareness, driving under the influence of alcohol continues to be a problem in the state of Nevada and across the country. In fact, statistics say that, on average, two out of three people will be involved in a drunk driving accident in their lifetime. Operating a motor vehicle requires constant focus, but when alcohol is involved, normal brain function is slowed and driving becomes difficult and very dangerous. Recently, in Reno, an accident involving an alleged intoxicated driver left one woman dead.

The accident occurred in a construction zone during the night-time hours at a well-known Reno intersection. According to reports, the alleged intoxicated driver made an illegal U-turn. While making the illegal move, the driver collided with another car.

The female driver of the impacted car sustained significant injuries. She was rushed to an area hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries. Reports say the male driver of the car that made the illegal U-turn suffered only minor injuries. However, he was arrested for driving under the influence.

Nevada residents know that driving under the influence of alcohol is illegal and can have deadly consequences. Unfortunately, this does not stop drivers from getting behind the wheel while intoxicated. The affected families of this alleged drunk driving accident have the right to take legal action through the Nevada civil justice system. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in compensation to the victim's family that can be used to cover end-of-life expenses and other financial losses.
