A Nevada pedestrian accident can happen even when following laws

Pedestrians in Nevada likely know of safety precautions to avoid being involved in a pedestrian accident. It is always recommended to be visible by wearing colors other than black at night and for bicycle riders to have reflectors on their bikes for easy visibility to drivers. There are laws surrounding pedestrians walking on roadways, and one is to always walk in the same direction as traffic to avoid any oncoming vehicles. Even still, accidents happen, and a woman recently died in one such pedestrian accident..

The accident occurred at around 6:00 in the evening, when the roadways were still very much visible. The 52-year-old Nevada woman was said to have been traveling south near a roadway by foot. A car that was also driving south came up behind her and hit the woman.

The woman was transported to a local hospital where she lived only a few short days. Due to catastrophic injuries to the woman's body in addition to head trauma, the woman succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The man who supposedly hit her with his vehicle did not suffer any injuries as a result of the pedestrian accident.

According to police officials, there were no signs of driver impairment, which could have lead to believing this accident was caused by alcohol. There was also said to have been no belief the driver was speeding at the time he hit the woman, so it is not known precisely what caused the accident. Although impairment nor speed are thought to be factors, as this is an ongoing investigation, some other form of negligence could still be determined.

This Nevada woman apparently did what she could to stay safe on the roadway by following the law and traveling in the same direction of traffic. Her family may feel as if they are alone in a time like this, but they do have legal options. They may file a claim for financial restitution, and, should the litigation be successful, they could ease the burden of financial expenses a pedestrian accident such as this one leaves behind.
