Nevada man killed in local crosswalk accident

Being visible when walking at night is a precaution that people should take to avoid being hit by a vehicle when they are traveling in the dark. However, even if a person is not completely visible, there are lights on a car, and it is still the driver's responsibility to be aware of his or her surroundings. A local Nevada resident was unfortunately killed in a recent crosswalk accident.

The victim was a man in his mid-thirties who was apparently trying to cross the road where he was hit and killed by the driver of a sedan. The clothing the man was wearing was apparently darker in color, and he was not traveling with a flashlight or any type of reflective lights to alert drivers of his presence. The driver also sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Drivers need to be fully conscious of the things that are going on around them. Reports indicated that the victim was in the crosswalk at the time of the accident. He was reportedly dragged down the street after somehow getting trapped under the vehicle that hit him. Speed and alcohol were not suspected as factors in the crash, therefore officials will have to determine why the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian.

The driver is apparently cooperating with police and investigators as the accident is being looked into, but that does not change the fact that someone has sadly died. The family of the victim will more than likely have a rough road to recovery after they hear about their loved one dying in a crosswalk accident. If the state of Nevada does not file criminal charges against the driver, the family may still obtain representation to file civil charges. Seeking justice and compensation may make the situation easier to get through.
