Motorcycle riding is a very popular activity across the country, including here in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, motorcyclists are at a higher risk of being involved in a motor vehicle crash. Because motorcyclists lack the same level of protection as a person within an enclosed vehicle, the injuries are often very severe and sometimes fatal. This appears to be the case in one accident that occurred recently in Nevada.
A motorcycle was recently traveling in the westbound lanes of a local Las Vegas roadway. A truck was exiting a parking lot onto the same road. Unfortunately, when the truck left the lot, it collided with the motorcycle.
The 19-year-old motorcyclist was ejected from his motorcycle. Reportedly, he died after being transported to the hospital. The 34-year-old driver of the truck was said to have suffered minor injuries.
Currently, authorities are investigating the accident to uncover exact details of the crash. They have gathered evidence from the scene and taken statements from witnesses. This is the 47th fatality related to Las Vegas traffic accidents this year.
Understandably, the lives of a surviving family is in turmoil when a loved one is killed in a motor vehicle crash. When the collision appears to have been caused by a negligent driver, families have the legal right to seek financial relief by filing a wrongful death claim in civil court. If successful, financial liability may be documented, and the deceased victim’s family may be able to recover financial losses that may help them as they struggle to put their lives back together.
