Pedestrians are a part of road traffic, just like cars, buses and trucks. Similar to motorcyclists, pedestrians do not have much protection in the case of a motor vehicle collision. For this reason, a pedestrian hit by a car often suffers serious injury or even death. A recent automobile accident in Nevada underscores the danger present for pedestrians.

Authorities initially reported that a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle midmorning on a recent Saturday. The pedestrian was a young boy. His identity and that of the driver have not yet been released to the media. Initially, the injuries that he suffered were not known. Officials worked to clear traffic following the collision.

Tragically, the boy succumbed to the injuries that he suffered. The circumstances and factors leading up to the car accident were not reported. The driver of the motor vehicle is cooperating with officials, and no charges have been filed at this point. Authorities continue to investigate this fatal collision.

The family of the young pedestrian hit by a car has the right to file civil claims for the wrongful death of their loved one. If the driver of the motor vehicle is deemed responsible for this Nevada car accident — based upon appropriate evidence of negligence — these claims may lead to compensation for the medical and funeral expenses that this family is now responsible for. These claims can also give the grieving family a sense of comfort in the midst of their loss and perhaps work to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
