Recently in Carson City, a Nevada man was killed as he crossed the street at an intersection and was hit by a motorcycle. The man on the motorcycle was ejected off the bike and suffered serious injuries. Alcohol is believed to have played a role in this motorcycle and pedestrian accident.

At the time of the accident, the man was crossing the street at a busy intersection. He was crossing at the appropriate place, along the illuminated white strips on the road. It is not immediately clear how fast the motorcycle was traveling at the time of the impact, but the speed limit along the road is listed at 35 miles per hour. The pedestrian, a Nevada resident, was killed in the impact.

It is always tragic when an accident of any kind claims the life of an innocent victim, but it is especially tragic when the accident was caused by unnecessary and negligent actions. In this particular case, the pedestrian was presumably killed because of dangerous or intoxicated driving. Even though it is not immediately clear if the motorcycle driver will be charged, the family of the deceased could file a civil claim against the responsible individual.

After a fatal pedestrian accident, a grieving family could be left with extensive medical bills and other end-of-life expenses. While this situation is overwhelming, a family does not have to navigate the legal system alone. A financial settlement will not undo the damage that has been done or bring back a loved one, but it can alleviate stress from a family that is experiencing difficult circumstances.
