Drivers often have to make last-minute decisions behind the wheel, some of which result in a motor vehicle accident. A recent auto accident underscores what can happen when a driver seemingly makes a reckless decision or appears to display a lack of concern for other motorists. In this particular crash, a driver is said to have executed a U-turn in the middle of the road that resulted in serious injuries for three people after a head-on collision.
The Nevada Highway Patrol reported that the man turned abruptly while driving in the eastbound lane of Interstate 80. It is not immediately clear why he apparently decided to turn into oncoming traffic, but the cause of the accident is still under investigation. While no definitive evidence has been released at this point, external factors such as drugs and alcohol are being considered.
The resulting accident caused injuries to the driver and two other Nevada motorists. The injuries were not life-threatening but did require the victims to be taken by helicopter to a medical facility. The cost of emergency medical treatment can be extensive, and based upon the preliminary evidence reported, it is likely that the two others drivers are entitled to pursue claims for financial relief. Any individual who has suffered because of the negligence of another person may consider a claim in order to seek recovery of the financial losses incurred due to an accident.
When a reckless decision is made by a driver, it can have a serious impact on others. Those who have been victimized as a result of an auto accident may benefit from the advice and guidance of a personal injury attorney concerning potential claims for monetary damages. In such a case, it will be necessary to establish in a Nevada civil court that the party believed to have been at fault was negligent in a way that either directly caused the accident or materially contributed to it. If appropriately documented, claims for specific items of financial damage will be considered.
