Two families are in mourning after two people lost their lives on Nevada’s highways during one weekend in the latter half of March. Both accidents are currently under investigation. Only time will tell what precisely are the causes of the car accident and the motorcycle accident.
The first fatality was the result of a motorcycle accident. This accident seems to be purely an accident in which the victim lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown from the bike. He succumbed to his injuries at the accident scene. No other vehicles seem to have been directly involved causing the accident.
The second fatality was the result of an auto accident and led to the death of a 19-year-old female. Reports show that the 19-year-old driver’s vehicle was carrying two passengers. As the vehicle was traveling north, a southbound vehicle driven by a 27-year-old driver crossed the center line and hit them head on.
The young driver was declared dead at the scene. The 40-year-old passenger and the 27-year-old driver were both taken to hospitals in the area. Both are expected to survive. The child was treated at the scene for her injuries.
While another person’s negligence does not seem to have contributed to the motorcycle accident, the car accident may be a different story. In Nevada, families who have lost loved ones in similar accidents caused by negligent drivers may choose to file wrongful death claims, while seriously injured victims may elect to file personal injury claims. Any damages awarded to victims of car wrecks or their families from successfully presented claims may help ease their financial suffering when they are already struggling to come to terms with the tragedies.
