Losing a loved one in a car accident caused by a drunk driver naturally leaves the surviving family members with the desire to seek full accountability from the person believed to have been at fault. A Nevada family may choose to take legal action against a driver whose apparent negligence caused a recent fatal auto accident. Police reported that the crash occurred in the early morning hours of a recent Tuesday.
According to a Las Vegas Metro Police report, a 22-year-old driver disregarded a red traffic light in the south valley and crashed into another car. The 65-year-old driver of the other car reportedly suffered critical injuries. He was rushed to a medical center where he was declared dead.
The driver who ran the red light suffered minor injuries, as did his 21-year-old passenger. Police apparently had reason to believe this driver was intoxicated. He was arrested, and he is now facing a charge of drunk driving resulting in death.
Whenever a drunk driver causes a Nevada auto accident that leads to the death of another person, the surviving family members are entitled to pursue a claim for financial relief to assist with the high costs of end-of-life arrangements and other losses sustained. To successfully navigate a wrongful death claim in a civil court, evidence of negligence must be presented to the court’s satisfaction. Once liability is formally established, the court will consider entering a monetary judgment to cover documented claims for financial and emotional damages resulting from the tragedy.
