Alleged drunk driver runs away after crash that kills 2

Losing loved ones in a wreck is extremely traumatic. However, learning that an alleged drunk driver caused their deaths can be even more distressing. Two people died in one of the recent alleged drunk driving accidents that was reported by the Nevada Highway Patrol. Officers said it occurred in the city of Sparks in Washoe County on a recent Saturday night.

An accident report indicates that a 35-year-old driver smashed into the rear of another vehicle. It has not yet been determined whether the other car was stationary or just slowing down when it was rear-ended. The driver and the passenger in the rear-ended vehicle suffered critical injuries, and they both died at the hospital.

The driver deemed responsible for driving the other car reportedly fled the crash scene on foot. However, he was soon located and taken to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. He was suspected of being impaired, and he was later arrested on several charges, including DUI causing death and leaving the scene of the accident.

Whenever lives are lost in a suspected drunk driving accident, the surviving family members may hold the alleged drunk driver accountable for damages sustained. Although they will have to establish negligence on the part of the driver before a monetary judgment will be considered by a Nevada civil court, once financial liability is determined, all documented claims will be adjudicated. Along with financial losses, such as end-of-life expenses, emotional damages to the surviving family members may also form part of a claim.
