Dangers abound on roadways these days. The sheer volume of cars on the road makes driving one of the most treacherous activities in the daily lives of Nevada citizens. Unfortunately, thousands of people are involved in automobile accidents each year. Any auto accident can be a traumatic experience, but when the driver at fault flees the scene, it only adds to the stress and trauma of those affected. Police are seeking information after a driver fled the scene of an accident that left a woman passenger dead.

According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed the median into oncoming traffic, colliding with another car and a pickup truck. Officers arrived on the scene to find car split almost in half. Upon further investigation, they discovered a fatally injured female passenger but failed to locate the driver who, according to police, fled the scene on foot.

Fortunately, the drivers of the other two vehicles involved suffered only minor to moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Although officers have a few leads, no information about the fleeing driver was reported initially. Once found, the driver could be facing very serious criminal charges.

In addition to the criminal charges, the driver could also end up facing a wrongful death lawsuit in civil court. Anytime a Nevada resident loses an immediate family member to an act of negligence in an auto accident, a right exists to pursue full accountability from the at-fault party. A successful lawsuit could give just compensation to the victim’s family that can be used to cover funeral and burial expenses as well as other financial losses.
