It is common knowledge that driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous things a person can do. Despite laws, driving while impaired remains a big problem on the nation’s roadways. On average, a person is killed by a drunk driver every 40 minutes in the United States. A recent Nevada auto accident involving alcohol quickly turned tragic, claiming the life of one man while injuring two others.

The accident occurred during the morning hours on a North Las Vegas highway. According to reports, a sedan operated by the alleged impaired driver sped through a red light and collided with another vehicle. Authorities say that the sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The three occupants of the impacted vehicle were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the driver later perished as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. The driver of the sedan was arrested and charged with two counts of DUI with substantial bodily harm, DUI resulting in death as well as other traffic offenses.

This tragic accident is just one example of the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol. According to statistics, about one third of all traffic fatalities in the United States are the result of drunk driving. Anyone in Nevada that suffers injuries or the loss of a loved one due to a drunk driver may have the right to pursue legal action. A successfully litigated personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit can result in much-needed financial relief for victims and/or their families.
