Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous things a person can do and can have deadly consequences. Despite stringent laws, impaired drivers continue to be a constant threat on Nevada roadways. A recent drunk driving accident on a busy Las Vegas highway tragically claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

According to reports, a sedan was traveling southbound and, while attempting to make a left turn at an intersection, turned into the path of a northbound motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the right side of the sedan, ejecting the operator of the motorcycle. The sedan veered off the road and came to rest in a ditch.

The driver of the motorcycle was badly injured and was quickly transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist later died from injuries suffered in the crash. Police reports state that the driver of the sedan was at fault in the crash and was arrested at the scene. She was charged with driving under the influence involving death.

When impaired drivers get behind the wheel they are not only putting their lives in danger, but also the lives of all others around them. Far too often drunk drivers are responsible for the tragic deaths of innocent victims. The surviving family members of the motorcyclist killed in this apparent drunk driving accident have the right to take legal action by filing a wrongful death claim in a Nevada civil court. A successful lawsuit could result in compensation to the victim’s family that can be used to cover funeral expenses and other financial losses.
