Nevada cities are thriving these days. That means there are pedestrians literally everywhere. With vehicles and people in such close proximity, accidents are bound to happen. Unfortunately, since runners and walkers are exposed, the odds of serious injury in a pedestrian accident are greater. This was the case in a recent accident in Reno involving a vehicle and a man who was walking across a street.

The accident occurred in the evening hours at a busy Reno intersection. A man was attempting to cross the intersection at a crosswalk. While in the process of doing so, the man was suddenly struck by a car.

The accident victim was transported to a local medical center for treatment of his injuries. Police reports confirm that the man was in the crosswalk when he was stuck by the vehicle. The driver of the car stayed on the scene and cooperated with authorities. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident. Reno police reports indicate that the driver may have not seen the man as he was attempting to cross the street.

This incident is an example of how fast an accident can occur on today’s busy Nevada city streets. Even though there are laws in place to protect those traveling on foot, accidents involving pedestrians and vehicles continue to rise. An increase in foot traffic coupled with an ever increasing number of automobiles using the road means accidents are almost unavoidable. A victim in a pedestrian accident has the right to take legal action against a driver who is deemed negligent. A successful lawsuit could result in compensation to help cover mounting medical expenses and other financial damages.
