Getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle comes with great responsibility and is often taken for granted. Drivers must remain attentive and alert at all times, especially with the numerous distractions and dangers on Nevada roadways today. It is no secret that driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous and risky things that a person can do. Alcohol impairs judgment and delays reaction time, making the most basic tasks extremely difficult. A recent drunk driving accident left a young girl injured and the driver facing a substantial prison sentence.

The accident occurred in a trailer park in Reno. According to reports, the driver was speeding through the trailer park and crashed into an 11-year-old girl. The girl was riding her bicycle in front of her home when she was struck.

After striking the young girl, the driver fled the scene but was later located and arrested. Police reports say the driver’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. The driver was found guilty of driving under the influence causing substantial bodily harm and failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving an injury. He faces up to 40 years in prison.

When drivers get behind the wheel while intoxicated, they not only put their own lives at risk, but they also risk the lives of all those around them. Nevada citizens that suffer injury or loss due to a drunk driving accident can take legal action. A successfully litigated lawsuit could provide a sense of justice and result in much-needed financial relief.
