Patrons in the state of Nevada should have the freedom to visit their favorite stores without fear of suffering injury. Unfortunately, thousands of shoppers across the country are injured in slip-and-fall accidents each year. Failure to properly clean or clear floors of loose objects or obstacles can cause serious injury to shoppers. Recently, a woman in another state filed a lawsuit after she suffered injuries from a fall in a department store.

The woman was shopping at a Macy’s, and according to the lawsuit, she tripped on a crumpled rug on the floor. The shopper claims that her foot got caught on the edge of the rug, which caused her to lose her balance. The lawsuit claims that woman tripped and fell forward, landing face first.

The woman alleges that she suffered a myriad of injuries due to the fall. These injuries included an acute fracture of the left inferior orbital bone, left elbow injury, facial lacerations and back injuries, among others. The woman also claims that the fall left her suffering from insomnia and anxiety. The lawsuit was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.

When dangerous conditions in a store contribute to accidents such as this, the business owner(s) can be held legally responsible. Nevada residents who have been involved in slip-and-fall accidents could benefit from seeking the assistance of a knowledgeable attorney. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in vital compensation that can be used to cover medical expenses, as well as other financial losses.
