Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous things a person can do. Roadways in the state of Nevada are dangerous enough, but when drunk drivers get behind the wheel, the chances of an accident occurring dramatically increase. Statistics say that a person is killed by a drunk driver every 40 minutes in the United States. Recently, an accident in Las Vegas involving an alleged drunk driver claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

The accident occurred in the evening hours on a busy Las Vegas roadway. According to reports, an SUV driven by the allegedly impaired driver attempted to make a left turn, which put the SUV in the path of an oncoming motorcycle. The motorcycle impacted the passenger side of the SUV, causing the driver of the motorcycle to be thrown through the passenger window.

Tragically, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was severely injured and transported to a local medical center for treatment. Police reported that the driver of the SUV showed signs of impairment at the scene and was booked on a count of DUI involving a death.

This fatal accident is evidence of the devastating consequences of drunk driving. Anyone that suffers the loss of a loved one due to a drunk driver may have the right to pursue legal action by filing a wrongful death claim in a Nevada civil court. A successful lawsuit could result in damages to help with any financial losses caused by the accident.
