Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous things a person can do. Alcohol impairs judgment, significantly delays reaction time and increases the likelihood of an accident. In the state of Nevada and across the country, there are very harsh penalties for any person convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol. Last year, according to statistics, drunk driving accidents accounted for nearly one-third of all traffic related fatalities in the United States. Recently in Las Vegas, an alleged drunk driver was arrested after a crash that killed two teenagers.

The accident occurred during the night-time hours at a Las Vegas intersection. Witnesses say an SUV was traveling north and collided with a car that was traveling east. According to police reports, the driver of the SUV failed to stop at a stop sign and hit the car at a high rate of speed, causing both vehicles to rotate before stopping.

Police say two teenage passengers were ejected from the car at impact. Tragically, the two teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested at the scene.

Despite very strict laws, accidents involving impaired drivers continue to occur at an alarming rate. Driving on today’s crowded Nevada roadways while under the influence of alcohol is a recipe for disaster. Those in Nevada who suffer personal injury or the loss of a loved one at the hands of a drunk driver can take legal action. A successful lawsuit could provide a sense of justice as well as much-needed compensation.
