The simplest tasks can become more difficult while under the influence of alcohol. This makes getting behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated one of the most dangerous things a person can do. Despite very stringent laws, driving under the influence of alcohol remains a significant problem on Nevada roadways. Impaired drivers not only endanger themselves, but all others around them. A recent accident in Las Vegas involving an alleged drunk driver seriously injured a bicyclist.

The accident occurred on a residential Las Vegas street around 10:15 pm. A bicyclist was traveling along the side of the road and was struck from behind by the driver of an SUV. Unfortunately, the bicyclist suffered serious injuries due to the impact of the crash and was rushed to a local medical center for treatment.

According to police reports, the SUV driver failed several field sobriety tests, and she was taken into custody. The driver was charged with DUI causing substantial injury. This accident is an example of the serious consequences of drunk driving.

Getting behind the wheel while intoxicated offers absolutely zero positive outcomes. Despite increased public awareness to the dangers of drunk driving, driving while intoxicated continues to be a very real problem on roadways across the country. Nevada citizens that suffer the loss of a loved one or personal injury at the hands of a drunk driver have the right to take legal action. A successful lawsuit can provide a sense of justice as well as much-needed compensation to cover medical bills and other monetary damages.
