Driving can be one of the most dangerous daily activities in the lives of Nevada citizens, especially with the high volume of traffic typically present on the roadways. Drivers these days not only face overcrowded roadways, but distracted and/or careless drivers, which make accidents seem almost inevitable. Any auto accident can be a stressful experience, but when the at-fault driver at flees the scene, it makes this experience even more traumatic. A driver involved in a recent accident was caught and arrested after police say he left the scene of an accident.
Police reports say the accident occurred at an off-ramp of Interstate 215. According to reports, a pickup truck driver from Las Vegas ran a red light at the off ramp intersection and collided with a passenger car. Accident reports indicate that the passenger car had the right of way.
Unfortunately, the driver of the car was critically injured and died while receiving treatment at a local medical center. Reports say that, after the crash, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene on foot. He was arrested a short time later by police. The driver of the pickup truck was arrested and charged with reckless driving with death, hit-and-run resulting in death, failure to give information and render aid, among other charges.
The driver of the pickup truck could also end up facing a wrongful death lawsuit in civil court. Anytime a Nevada resident loses an immediate family member to an act of negligence in an auto accident, legal action can be taken. A successful lawsuit could provide the victim’s family much-needed compensation to cover funeral and burial expenses as well as other financial losses.
