Nevada cities are booming these days and populations are on the rise. An increasing population means there are more vehicles on the road than ever before having to co-exist with pedestrians walking along crowded city streets. With vehicles and pedestrians in such close proximity, pedestrian accidents are almost inevitable. Unfortunately, they are often fatal. A Las Vegas pedestrian was recently killed after being struck by a car.

The accident happened during the early morning hours on a popular Las Vegas roadway. According to reports, a car was traveling south in the middle lane of the highway and hit an elderly female pedestrian that was attempting to cross the street with a walker. The car struck the pedestrian and knocked her to the ground.

Police say the pedestrian suffered major injuries and was transported to a local medical center for treatment. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital. Police reported that the driver of the car did not appear to be impaired and was cooperating with police.

Nevada’s city streets and sidewalks are heavily congested with foot traffic these days, so pedestrian accidents are more likely to happen. Losing a loved one is a difficult experience, but this experience can be even more difficult when a loved one is killed in this type of accident. A victim in a pedestrian accident has the right to take legal action against a driver who is deemed negligent. A successful lawsuit could result in vital compensation that can be used to cover end-of-life expenses, mounting medical bills and/or other documented financial losses.
