These days, traveling on foot along busy Nevada city streets can be very risky. An increasing amount of foot traffic combined with distracted or impaired drivers can be a recipe for disaster. Laws exist that protect pedestrians, but despite these laws, accidents involving automobiles and pedestrians seem to be occurring more frequently. Unfortunately, pedestrian accidents are often fatal since pedestrians are more exposed. One such accident recently happened in Las Vegas and left a pedestrian dead.

The accident occurred just after 10 p.m. at a Las Vegas intersection. Reports say that a pickup truck hit a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the intersection. Tragically, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup fled the scene of the accident. Police say the driver eventually returned to the scene of the collision where he was arrested for hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, this accident was the 81st traffic fatality investigated by Las Vegas Metro police so far in 2017.

Nevada city streets and sidewalks are often heavily congested these days. With so many people and vehicles in the same place at the same time, pedestrian accidents seem almost inevitable. Anytime someone in Nevada suffers injuries or the loss of a loved one due to an act of negligence in this type of accident, he or she has a right to pursue damages for pain and suffering. A successful lawsuit could result in compensation that can be used to cover medical bills and other expenses.
