Man injured by faulty door pursues premises liability claim

Business and property owners in Nevada and across the country have a legal responsibility to keep their establishments and properties safe for all visitors. Failure to eliminate hazards and adequately maintain property can create an unsafe environment that has the potential to cause injuries to all those who visit. Water leaks, inadequate lighting and defective equipment are just a few examples of potentially dangerous hazards that could cause harm to visitors. A man in another state was allegedly injured due to unsafe conditions when visiting a grocery store, and he has filed a premises liability lawsuit.

According to the lawsuit, the man was shopping at the grocery store and was allegedly hit in the head by a roll-up metal door that was over his head. The plaintiff claims the collision with the door caused him significant injury. Reportedly, they included injuries to his head, body and limbs.

The plaintiff claims the defendants were aware of the door's dangerous condition and accuses them of negligence by failing to warn visitors of the door and also failing to maintain and repair the door. The injuries the man suffered are permanent and severe injuries that will continue to cause him pain and suffering, the lawsuit alleges. These injuries have also led to time away from work and will continue to keep him away from his occupation contributing to financial loss, the man claims. The plaintiff is seeking damages of over $50,000.

Although most stores in the state of Nevada are safe, sometimes hazards may result in injuries to visitors. When unsafe conditions on a property contribute to accidents and injuries, the property owner(s) can be held financially responsible through a premises liability claim. A successful lawsuit could result in a monetary award that may provide victims with much-needed financial relief.
