Despite increased public awareness and education, driving under the influence of alcohol is an unfortunate problem across the state of Nevada. Driving is a privilege that should not be taken for granted, but there will always be those who irresponsibly choose to operate a motor vehicle while intoxicated. When under the influence of alcohol, driving becomes incredibly dangerous and car accidents become a very real threat. A recent Las Vegas car accident involving an alleged drunk driver sent two people to the hospital.
The accident occurred on Interstate 15 in Las Vegas. Authorities say they received calls about a southbound driver in the northbound lanes of the interstate. According to reports, the wrong-way driver was in a Ford Mustang and collided with a Ford F-150, which then set off a chain reaction. In total, 5 vehicles were involved in the accident, police said.
The nature and extent of the injuries suffered by the two victims was not reported. The wrong-way driver was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested on the scene. He was charged with driving under the influence and driving the wrong way on a one-way road.
Driving while intoxicated continues to be a significant problem in the state of Nevada and across the country. According to statistics, two out of three people will be involved in a drunk driving accident in their lifetime. Those that suffer personal injury or the loss of a loved one due to negligence of another party in car accidents can take legal action. A successful lawsuit can result in financial relief that can be used for medical bills and other monetary damages.
