Driving these days requires constant focus and attention as roadways across the state of Nevada become more and more crowded and congested. One of the most important things drivers can do to prevent car accidents is to slow down. Recent statistics say that speeding is the number one cause of motor vehicle accidents in the United States, contributing to almost one third of all traffic related deaths. Even though there are laws against speeding and reckless driving, accidents due to speeding still occur and are often fatal.
Police say speed may have caused a recent fatal accident in Henderson. Three people were killed in the deadly accident. The accident occurred at an intersection and involved a Jeep Liberty and a Dodge pickup truck, reports say.
Police say the Jeep went off the roadway and into the median. The vehicle emerged into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Dodge pickup that was heading in the opposite direction. The Jeep rolled onto its roof and caught fire, killing both occupants. Authorities say the driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital and later died from his injuries. Police reports indicate that speed was a factor in the crash.
Driving is a privilege that comes with great responsibility and is not to be taken for granted. Tragically, thousands of people are killed in car accidents every year in Nevada and across the country. Families of those killed in accidents such as this one typically benefit by seeking the services of a knowledgeable, personal injury attorney. A successful claim could result in much-needed compensation.
