Driving while under the influence of alcohol is incredibly dangerous, irresponsible and illegal. When drivers get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol they endanger the lives of everyone around them. Very strict laws against drunk driving exist not only in Nevada, but across the country. However, some people choose to drive while intoxicated and willingly break drunk driving laws. According to statistics, over half of all car wrecks in the United States are caused by intoxicated drivers.
Authorities say a recent crash in Las Vegas can be attributed to drunk driving. Accident reports say that a Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a red light at a busy intersection. The Grand Marquis then collided with a Honda Civic, according to police reports.
A backseat passenger in the Grand Marquis suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital. The driver of the Grand Marquis and another passenger were also injured. The driver of the Honda suffered minor injuries as well. Police say the driver of the Grand Marquis was arrested and booked for driving under the influence of alcohol with substantial bodily harm.
Any auto accident can be a very stressful and traumatic experience. But when alcohol is involved, the experience can become even more traumatic. Anyone in Nevada who suffers injury or loss of loved ones in car wrecks may be able to take legal action. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in much-needed compensation and also provide a sense of justice.
