As more and more people move to Nevada to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities that abound, populations are dramatically increasing in cities all across the state. In direct correlation, pedestrian accidents have also increased over the last few years. These type of accidents often have deadly outcomes, since pedestrians are totally exposed to the elements. Now more than ever, those that travel by vehicle or on foot need to remain focused and pay attention to their surroundings at all times.

A recent accident in Las Vegas claimed the life of a pedestrian. The accident occurred during the nighttime hours on a well-traveled street just east of Interstate 215. Witnesses say an eastbound Toyota Prius was traveling in the left lane and struck a pedestrian.

According to reports, the pedestrian was also walking east when he was struck by the car. The pedestrian suffered very serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, he later died. Authorities say the driver of the Pruis did not show signs of impairment but was also injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. The accident investigation is still ongoing.

Unfortunately, pedestrian accidents continue to rise in cities across Nevada despite the emergence of new laws put in place to protect pedestrians. Families that have suffered the loss of a loved one due to an act of negligence in this type of accident may be able to pursue legal action. A successful lawsuit could result in compensation that could be used to cover medical bills and help family members cope with the pain and suffering that comes with such a tragedy.
