You were in a car accident very recently, say a day or two ago. Your pain seemed minor at first, but you woke up this morning and could barely move. It has become obvious that you are in for a long haul and many medical bills. In fact, you wonder if it is too late to see a doctor in the sense that you might not be able to claim compensation for your injuries from the other driver.
The answer: No, it is not too late. Go now. Ideally, of course, you would go right after your accident, but as long as you go within three days, it should be okay.
Health concerns pop up unexpectedly
Many people do not think about lawsuits and the necessity for compensation right after a car crash. If their pain is minor, they are just relieved it was not worse and think the pain will resolve itself given a few days. Why go to the doctor when you can take a few over-the-counter pills and give your important business presentation on time?
Fortunately, in a good number of cases, the pain does diminish or go away largely on its own. Still, it is better to see a doctor right away even if your pain is extremely minor.
The compensation process requires good medical documentation
If you wait too long to see a doctor, several issues can come into play. For example, was this injury really caused by the crash or something that happened afterward? If the crash caused it, did your waiting to see a doctor make it worse than it would have been otherwise?
Are you out of luck?
Say that the crash was a week ago or even a month or two ago. Because it has been more than three days, are you out of luck? Absolutely not. Go see a doctor as soon as possible for the sake of your health. In many cases, you can still get a good amount of compensation, just perhaps not quite as much as you would have if you went to the doctor immediately.
