A wonderful climate and scenic roadways make Nevada a great state for motorcyclists. Nevada offers an abundance of wide open spaces that can be joyously explored behind the handle bars of a motorcycle. Nevada also hosts many prosperous cities with a steadily increasing population. Navigating congested city streets with a motorcycle can be extremely dangerous, as evidenced by the continued rise of motorcycle accidents.
A recent hit-and-run motorcycle accident in Las Vegas resulted in a motorcyclist losing his leg. A surveillance camera captured footage of the accident. In the video, a pickup truck pulls out in front of the motorcyclist and runs into the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was thrown to the ground while the pickup truck fled the scene, reports say.
The Las Vegas crash resulted in severe injuries to the motorcyclist. He’s had to endure seven surgeries and an amputated leg, his family says. Unfortunately, the driver of the pickup truck that fled the scene is still at large. Police are still seeking information about the accident, and the motorcyclist’s family is offering a $2,000 reward for any information provided that leads to the arrest of the pickup truck driver.
Any motorcycle accident can be a difficult and stressful experience, but when the at-fault driver leaves the scene of the accident, the experience can be completely devastating. When acts of negligence in motorcycle accidents cause injury or death, those injured — or surviving family members in a fatal crash — have the right to take legal action. Substantial compensation to help victims and/or their families recover from such a tragedy could result from a successful claim.
