It’s common knowledge that drinking and driving do not mix. Driving while under the influence of alcohol endangers not only the driver but every person around. Unfortunately, impaired driving continues to be a big problem in the state of Nevada, with the number of drunk driver accidents increasing every year. Two accidents during one recent weekend in Las Vegas resulted in injuries to several people and claimed the lives of three others.

The first crash occurred just before 1 am. Reports say an alleged drunk driver drove a Dodge car onto the sidewalk, striking pedestrians. One woman was killed, and one man was critically injured, reports say. According to authorities, the driver fled the scene after hitting the pedestrians but was later located and arrested. Police charged the driver with felony DUI.

In the second accident, a Nissan car was traveling eastbound just west of the Las Vegas strip. Reports indicate that the Nissan attempted to make a right turn and traveled into the path of a Ford sedan. After colliding with the Ford, the Nissan car then hit a light pole. Tragically, two passengers in the Nissan were killed with four others suffering injuries, according to authorities.

Statistically, two out of every three people will be involved in an accident with a drunk driver at some point. Nevada police have done a great job of combating the problem of intoxicated driving. Despite these efforts, drunk driver accidents continue to happen at an alarming rate. Families who have lost a loved one in an accident with an impaired or intoxicated driver can take legal action. A successful lawsuit could result in financial relief to help families during this difficult time.
