Las Vegas is quickly becoming one of the largest cities in the United States. The city has grown exponentially in recent years as more and more people move here to experience the world-class entertainment and abundant economic opportunities that are now available. This means city sidewalks are crowded with pedestrian traffic, while city streets are congested with vehicular traffic. With pedestrians and vehicles in such close proximity, it’s only a matter of time before auto-pedestrian accidents happen.
Recently, a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle. The accident occurred around 10 p.m. near Bent Arrow Drive and Camino Eldorado Parkway. According to Las Vegas police, the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a Cadillac sedan.
Tragically, the pedestrian died as a result of the collision. Police say the driver of the car cooperated and remained on the scene, but it was not known if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. Reportedly, this accident happened in the same location as a pedestrian accident that claimed the life of a 6-year-old just a few years ago, prompting a campaign to promote crosswalk safety.
Reports say that this accident was the 14th vehicle related fatality so far this year in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, auto-pedestrian accidents are more likely as populations increase across Nevada. Those who have suffered the loss of a loved one in an accident such as this could benefit by seeking the services of a personal injury attorney. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in a sense of justice as well as financial relief to help cover end-of-life expenses and other documented monetary damages.
