Nevada is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the United States. Because of this, many people are choosing to visit and take up residence here. The sudden influx of traffic can equate to more car accidents. A fatal wrong-way accident on Interstate 80 near Reno recently made headlines.

The accident occurred just before midnight in the westbound travel lanes of Interstate 80 around mile marker 29. According to reports, a Chrysler sedan was headed eastbound in the westbound left lane. The Chrysler violently collided head-on with a Honda Civic that was traveling westbound, reports say.

Authorities said the drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Two other passengers in the Honda also died at the scene. A passenger of the Honda suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, reports say. Photos of the crash showed the vehicles mangled almost beyond recognition. The Nevada High Patrol said both westbound lanes were closed for hours following the crash.

This accident is an example of the dangers that are present on roadways across Nevada. All drivers must remain constantly focused and attentive when operating a motor vehicle. These days, greater numbers of distracted drivers are a product of the abundance of cell phones and other electronic devices present in modern vehicles. Families who have suffered the loss of loved ones due to negligence in car accidents could benefit from discussions with a legal representative. A successful lawsuit could provide financial relief to help families through this difficult time.
