For many people, the natural beauty of Nevada is best enjoyed from behind the handle bars of a motorcycle. Nevada is home to an abundance of scenic roadways that thousands of motorcyclists enjoy every year. Unfortunately, those who travel by motorcycle are faced with unique dangers and challenges that those in passenger vehicles typically are exempt from. Due to their smaller size, motorcycles can be more difficult for other drivers to see, which is a primary cause of many motorcycle accidents.

A recent accident in Henderson resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. Accident reports said the motorcyclist was traveling east approaching an intersection with a green light. Reportedly, the driver of a Nissan SUV was traveling the opposite direction and attempted a left turn at the intersection.

According to police, the driver of the Nissan failed to yield to the motorcycle and pulled into the motorcyclist’s path. The motorcyclist violently struck the right side of the Nissan SUV, reports said. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital where, tragically, he died of his injuries. Police said the driver of the Nissan SUV showed signs of impairment. The driver of the SUV was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents are more likely to result in serious injury or death since motorcyclists are minimally protected and completely exposed to the elements. Families in Nevada who have suffered the loss of a loved one in a motorcycle accident may be able to take legal action. Damages awarded from a successful lawsuit could provide financial relief for families struggling with medical and end of life expenses.
