Serious injuries often accompany motorcycle accidents

There's no doubt that motorcycles can be dangerous. Although motorcycles can be a fun way to travel in Nevada, those who ride motorcycles are confronted with unique dangers that are not present for other motorists. According to statistics, motorcyclists are 5 times more likely to be injured in a crash than those in passenger vehicles. Motorcyclists are minimally protected, so when motorcycle accidents happen, they are more likely to result in serious injury or death.

In Henderson, a recent accident resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The crash happened along U.S. 95 during the late afternoon hours. Reports say a motorcycle and an SUV were traveling north when a collision occurred.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the SUV unsuccessfully attempted to make a lane change and returned to the travel lane, causing the motorcycle to leave the roadway. Reportedly, the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and sustained critical injuries. Tragically, the motorcyclist later died at a hospital, authorities said. The NHP says this was the 68th traffic fatality on Southern Nevada roadways this year.

Those who travel by motorcycle should always wear protective gear, such as helmets, and stay aware of surroundings. A main cause of most motorcycle accidents is visual recognition. Motorcycles have a smaller profile and can be more difficult for other motorists to see. Nevada families who have suffered the loss of a loved one due to negligence in a motorcycle accident could benefit by seeking the services of a legal representative. A knowledgeable attorney can provide guidance and help families obtain rightful damages for their suffering.
