Las Vegas is one of the top tourists destinations in the United States. Every year, thousands of people visit this city known as the Entertainment Capital of the World. There will inevitably be even more pedestrians present on and around city streets as tourist season approaches. Unfortunately, cities in Nevada have seen an increase in pedestrian accidents in recent years. Any accident of this type is traumatic, but when the at-fault driver flees the scene the experience can be devastating for victims and families.

A recent hit-and-run accident in Las Vegas claimed the life of a pedestrian. The accident happened on North El Capitan Way during the morning hours. According to reports, a pedestrian was attempting to cross the street in a marked crosswalk when he was suddenly struck by the driver of a pickup truck.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene after striking the pedestrian. Tragically, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Police said they located the truck in a nearby neighborhood a short time later and placed the driver under arrest. Reportedly, the driver showed signs of impairment when he was taken into custody.

Although pedestrian safety improvements have been made throughout Las Vegas, accidents will continue to happen. Drivers and pedestrians should pay attention to surroundings at all times. Nevada families who have suffered the loss of loved ones due to negligence in pedestrian accidents may want to consider discussions with an experienced legal representative. A lawsuit, if successful, could result in a substantial monetary award to help families with end-of-life expenses.
