Auto-pedestrian accidents: Woman injured in hit-and-run crash

For residents of Nevada cities such as Las Vegas, walking is a primary source of transportation. Not only is walking economical, it is also very healthy and a great way to stay in shape. Due to the high traffic volumes in and around Las Vegas, many people here choose to walk instead of drive. Unfortunately, higher traffic volumes combined with higher numbers of pedestrians is a recipe for auto-pedestrian accidents.

Recently, a woman was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while walking her dog. The accident happened at West Carey Avenue and Lexington Street during the morning hours. According to reports, the woman was walking her dog along the sidewalk when an out-of-control vehicle suddenly struck the woman and her dog. Authorities said the woman suffered critical head and spinal injuries and rushed to a hospital.

Reportedly, her dog was badly injured and had to be put down. Reports said the driver fled the scene, but police were able to locate the vehicle and driver thanks to multiple community tips. After reviewing surveillance footage, investigators said the woman's dog may have tried to save the woman moments before the crash. They said footage showed the dog attempting to pull the woman away from danger.

Drivers and pedestrians need to stay alert at all times near crowded roadways. Unfortunately, auto-pedestrian accidents are usually very serious or fatal. Nevada families who have suffered injuries or the loss of a loved one in an accident such as this may want to consider discussing the matter with an attorney. Damages from a successful claim could provide financial relief during this difficult time.
